WHAT DO CHIROPRACTORS DO?

Chiropractors are healthcare providers who specialize in treating conditions associated with nerves, muscles, and joints. Changes to the body’s movements or injuries to its structures can be the cause of pain and functional limitations. Chiropractors aim to treat the source of pain and restore function with the goal of obtaining optimal wellness for patients.

WHEN SHOULD I SEE
A CHIROPRACTOR?

Chiropractic care can be sought anytime from as early as pregnancy/infancy to as late as palliative. In addition, Chiropractic care can be administered for preventative care, acute care, chronic care or for optimizing wellness.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO
SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?

No. It is not necessary to receive a referral to see a chiropractor. Even though no referral is necessary, our clinic diligently seeks to work closely with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal care is achieved for all of our patients.

WHAT IS THE CRACKING SOUND?

When joints are moved close to their end range, the joint spaces open and often result in a “cracking” sound. This noise is created when gas that has been trapped in the joint is released. Although the gas is not the cause of pain, it serves as an indicator that motion has been restored to a joint that may not have been moved in a while.

IS CHIROPRACTIC COVERED
 BY INSURANCE?

Yes. However, every insurance provider is different. From our experience we have found that most insurance policies cover a certain number of visits per year or a fixed amount of coverage per visit. Check with your insurance policy benefits to determine what coverage you have. In addition to chiropractic care you may also have coverage for orthotic services too.

IS CHIROPRACTIC
CARE SAFE?

Chiropractic care is very safe and is one of the lowest risk treatment options for many conditions. At Orillia Chiropractic, safety is at the forefront of our minds when delivering care and we do not perform any methods of treatment unless we are confident it will be therapeutically beneficial and safe for our patients.

If you are uncomfortable with certain types of adjustments, we offer many adjunct therapies, passive modalities and techniques to suit your preferences.

DO ADJUSTMENTS HURT?

First time adjustments may be like going to the gym for the first time in many months – it is common to experience soreness the first time you exercise, however with continued exercise the soreness diminishes. Adjustments can behave like this as well. You may feel sore the first time being adjusted since movement is restored into joints that may not have moved in a while, however as your body gets used to adjustments the soreness fades.

If you are uncomfortable with certain types of adjustments, we offer many different kinds of techniques to suit your preferences.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I
VISIT A CHIROPRACTOR?

How often you see a chiropractor is determined on a case-by-case basis. Some conditions may require a few treatments per week for a set time period, and some conditions may require treatment once per month. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so even if you do not have a complaint, visit us at Orillia Chiropractic for an optimized wellness healthcare treatment plan.

IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE FOR PREGNANCY?

Yes, chiropractic care is safe for pregnancy. Many pregnant women experience neck pain, low back pain, leg pain, and more. At Orillia Chiropractic, we modify our techniques specifically for patients to ensure safety for both mom and baby. Chiropractic care can help mitigate pain and counter postural changes that occur in the body as a result of pregnancy and can even help the birth canal remain properly aligned and move unrestricted to encourage a safer delivery.

IS CHIROPRACTIC SAFE FOR CHILDREN?

Yes, chiropractic care is safe for children and pediatric patients. Children’s joints are rapidly growing and developing which changes the way their body will move and function at various stages. Chiropractic care can help with posture alignment and pain as a result of development, daily life, accidental or sports injuries. Our doctors are also specially trained to both spot and screen for many developmental abnormalities.
